Two Men Arrested for Aggravated Drug Trafficking in Maine
Two men were arrested for Aggravated Drug Trafficking Friday night after a traffic stop in Alfred where fentanyl and meth were found in a take-out container.
Drugs Seized and Two Men Arrested
The York County Sheriff’s Office said 23-year-old Miguel Hernandez and 27-year-old Layhonel Baez, both from Lawrence, Massachusetts, were taken into custody around 9 pm on Biddeford Road.
K-9 Alerted to Narcotics in the Vehicle
K-9 Rebel and Deputy Frazier “conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics,” said the Sheriff’s Office.
Suspect Fled into the Woods during Search
During the search, Layhonel fled into the woods on foot. Deputy Johnson apprehended Layhonel shortly after.
Drugs Seized in Chinese Food Container
Deputies seized 36.7 grams of fentanyl and meth compound inside of a Chinese food container.
Charges and Bail
Miguel was charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking with bail set at $10,000. Layhonel was charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking and will be indicted on the charge of Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention. His bail was set at $15,000.
