27-Year-Old Man Arrested for Aggravated Drug Trafficking in Maine
A 27-year-old man was arrested for aggravated drug trafficking after a large amount of narcotics and a loaded firearm were seized in Portland on Tuesday.
Aggravated Drug Trafficking in Maine
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said Charles Aboda from Portland was taken into custody and charged with 2 counts of Unlawful Aggravated Drug Trafficking.
Three Month Investigation
The MDEA and Portland Police Department have been investigating the case for three months.
Undercover Drug Purchases
Law enforcement had information that Aboda was “selling large quantities of illegal drugs as well as making smaller, street level sales to local drug users. During the investigation, agents conducted undercover purchases of illegal drugs directly from Aboda.”
Arrest and Drugs Seized
Aboda was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon in the Bay Side area of Portland. Officials seized approximately 3 ounces of fentanyl, and cocaine, as well as $1000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Drugs, Loaded Handgun and Money Seized
Agents also executed a search warrant at a West End residence. Authorities seized approximately 2 ounces of fentanyl, cocaine, crack, methamphetamine, a loaded handgun and approximately $10,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Jail and Bail
Aboda was taken to the Cumberland County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
Investigation Remains Open
More charges are possible as the investigation is ongoing.
