Fort Fairfield Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Maine
A 50-year-old Fort Fairfield man was arrested Tuesday for Aggravated Drug Trafficking and more charges following a bail check at his residence on Limestone Road.
Man on Bail Arrested after Compliance Check
Daniel Bernaiche had been out on bail after his arrest for 12 counts of Aggravated Animal Cruelty on January 11, 2024 in Fort Fairfield.
Drug Items in Plain View during Bail Check
During the compliance check on Tuesday, officers saw items in plain view that were indicative of drug use, drug consumption and trafficking, said Matthew E. Cummings, Fort Fairfield Chief of Police.
Drugs and Firearms Seized during Search
Police secured the residence and obtained a search warrant. The Fort Fairfield Police Department seized 21.3 grams of Methamphetamine, 3.4 grams of Fentanyl, 1.6 grams of Cocaine and 2 firearms.
Multiple Charges
Bernaiche was charged with four counts of Aggravated Drug Trafficking, Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and Violation of Conditions of release.
Transported to Jail
He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail with bail set at $7,500 and restrictive conditions.
