Man Charged with Hitting Cruiser During Police Chase in Maine

A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged after a police chase and hitting a Maine State Police cruiser.

Fled from Police Through Several Towns and Hit Cruiser

James King of Limerick was charged with Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, Eluding an Officer and Passing a Roadblock. Additional charges are expected.

Suspicious Vehicle Parked at Closed Business

The police chase started in Limerick Sunday around midnight after Troopers checked on a suspicious vehicle parked at a closed business, Alpha Sports Center.

Driver Slumped Over the Wheel

The driver was slumped over the wheel of the vehicle when police knocked on the window.

Fled from Troopers after Waking Up

King woke up and fled from Troopers at a high rate of speed on Route 5.

Rammed Maine State Police Cruiser

He rammed a Maine State Police cruiser and continued to flee through Limerick, Newfield and into Wakefield, New Hampshire.

Lost Control of Vehicle, Crashed into Woods and Fled on Foot

King lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the woods. He got out of the vehicle, fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later.

Driver had Minor Injuries and was Taken to County Jail

King had minor injuries and was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Alcohol was Believed to be a Factor in the Incident

“Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the incident. No Troopers were injured. The incident remains under investigation,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
