Man Charged with OUI after Chase Ends with Spike Strips in Maine
A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with OUI after a police chase through several towns ended with spike strips in Greenville.
Criminal Speed and OUI
The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office said Edward Goodwin was charged with eluding a police officer, operating under the influence, driving to endanger, criminal speed and driving without a license.
Took Friend’s Vehicle and Driving Drunk
The chase started in Monson after a report of a man “taking his friend's vehicle and driving while intoxicated,” said PCSO.
High Speed and Erratic Driving
When police tried to stop the vehicle, Goodwin increased his speed and drove erratically through Monson, Shirley and into Greenville.
Two Spike Strips Deployed
The first spike strips punctured several of the vehicle’s tires. A second spike strip “spiked” the remaining tires, said Greenville PD. The car stopped due to the damage.
Arrested and County Jail
Goodwin was apprehended and taken to the Piscataquis County Jail.
