39-Year-Old Man Died after Police Involved Shooting in Maine
A 39-year-old man died Friday after an officer involved shooting with the Maine State Police in Hiram.
39-Year-Old Pointed a Gun at Maine State Police Trooper
The Maine State Police said Steven Nelson from Hiram pointed a firearm at Trooper Zachary Fancy as he responded to a domestic violence call at 16 Aaron Drive.
Man Died at the Scene
“Trooper Fancy fired his weapon and struck the individual who was later pronounced dead on scene,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Trooper on Administrative Leave
Trooper Fancy was placed on administrative leave as is protocol in officer involved shootings, said Moss.
Attorney General Investigating Use of Force
The Maine Attorney General’s Office is investigating the use of force. The Maine State Police Major Crimes South is conducting the criminal investigation.
