
Man Died after Officer-Involved Shooting in Maine
A man died Wednesday night after an officer-involved shooting at 7 Whalen Street in Lincoln.
Man Shot and Killed by Police
The Lincoln Police Department said Derek Beach was shot around 8:36 pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Protection Order from Abuse
Beach was prohibited from the property because of a protection from abuse order and bail conditions.
Tased Suspect
Officers tased Beach after trying to negotiate with him, but got no response.
Lunged at Officers with a Knife
He then “lunged at officers with a knife. Sgt. Michael Winslow and Ofc. Kristofer Milner shot Beach.” He died at the scene.
Administrative Leave
Winslow and Milner were placed on administrative leave as is standard protocol. The U.S. Attorney's Office is investigating the case.
