The body of a 67-year-old woman was recovered Sunday from a pond in Otis.

Woman Died at the Scene after Being Recovered from the Water

Deborah Wedge from Tremont was pronounced dead at the scene on Beech Hill Pond around 4:20 pm.

Deputies Believed Woman had a Medical Event in the Pond

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said it appears Wedge had a medical event while in the water.

Woman Found Unresponsive in the Water

She was found unresponsive in the pond off Salisbury Cove Road.

Bystanders Performed CPR Until EMS Units Arrived

Witnesses helped remove her from the water and performed CPR until police and emergency medical services arrived on the scene.

No Indication of Suspicious Circumstances or Foul Play

“There is no indication of suspicious circumstances or foul play,” according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

Responding to the scene was the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, the Maine Warden Service, Otis/Mariaville Fire Department and Northern Light Ambulance.
