Van Buren Man Died in Motorcycle & Truck Crash in Caribou, Maine
A 54-year-old Van Buren man died Thursday afternoon after a motorcycle and truck crash on Van Buren Road in Caribou.
Motorcyclist Flown by LifeFlight and Died at Hospital
The Caribou Police Department said Brian Parent was taken to Cary Medical Center and then flown by LifeFlight to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Motorcycle and Truck Collided
The crash happened around 2:53 pm when Parent’s Honda motorcycle and a GMC truck driven by 33-year-old Colby Doucette from Caribou collided.
Failed to Yield to Motorcycle
Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan said Doucette “apparently failed to yield to the motorcycle.”
Truck Driver Charged
Doucette was charged with Operating after Habitual Offender Revocation with multiple Priors. More charges are possible.
Road Closed for Hours
Route 1 was closed for almost three hours in the area of the Plant Road Intersection.
Crash Investigation
Sgt. Keith Ouellette investigated the case. Assisting the Caribou PD was the Caribou Fire and Ambulance, Presque Isle Police, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Department of Transportation.
