Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking after Police Chase in Maine
A 21-year-old man was arrested for Aggravated Drug Trafficking after a high-speed police chase and crash in Portland.
Asleep Behind the Wheel on Roadway
The Portland Police Department said Hamsa Omar was asleep at the wheel in the middle of Walton Street around 4:10 am.
Fled from Police and Crashed
Officers had a brief conversation with him before he fled at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree on Ocean Avenue. Omar then fled from police on foot.
K-9 Tracked Suspect
A K-9 team tracked him hiding behind a building. He was apprehended and taken into custody.
Gun, Drugs and Cash Seized
“He was in possession of a handgun, 17 grams of cocaine, seven grams of fentanyl, several oxycontin pills and $5,753 in cash,” said Portland PD.
Multiple Charges
Omar was charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking, two counts of Unlawful Drug Trafficking, Unlawful drug Possession, Aggravated Criminal Mischief, Operating a Vehicle Without a License, Driving to Endanger and Failing to Stop for an Officer.
