A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday night and charged after a woman was shot in the hand in Otisfield.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges Including Reckless Conduct

John K. Pottle Jr. from Otisfield was taken into custody and faces charges for Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon and Aggravated Assault.

Woman Shot in Hand by Rifle

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said the 28-year-old woman was shot in the hand around 7:10 pm on Bell Hill Road.

Injured Woman Treated and Taken to the Hospital with Injuries

She was treated at the scene and taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

AR-15 Style Rifle Fired Recklessly in Vicinity of Victim

The Sheriff’s Office said Pottle had “fired an AR-15 style rifle recklessly in the vicinity of the victim, subsequently shooting and injuring her.”

Firearm Seized and Suspect Taken to Jail

The firearm was seized and Pottle was transported to the Oxford County Jail. His bail was set at $5,000.

Active Investigation as Officials Look for Evidence

Police were at the scene interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. The investigation is active and ongoing.
