Woman Shot and Seriously Injured with Gunshot Wound in Maine

A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured with a gunshot wound early Sunday morning in Lewiston.

Officers Located Shooting Victim Early in the Morning

The Lewiston Police Department said officers located Leyla Isaak outside 89 Webster Street around 2:40 am.

Police Patrolling Downtown Heard Gunshots in the Area

Police had been patrolling the downtown area when they heard gunshots and responded to the scene.

Female Victim Treated at the Scene and Taken to Hospital

Isaak was given first aid by the officers and then transported to Central Maine Medical Center.

Serious and Non-Life Threatening Injuries

Her injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.

Ongoing Investigation

The shooting is under investigation.
