
AK-47 Style Rifle and Drugs Seized after Traffic Stop in Maine
A 21-year-old man was arrested Monday and charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking and Possession after drugs, an AK-47 style rifle and ammo were found in a vehicle following a traffic stop in Portland.
Traffic Stop Results in Arrest for Drugs and Gun
James Anderson from Biddeford was pulled over for a traffic stop around 7:02 am on the corner of Spring Street and State Street.
Suspect had Knife in Vehicle and Probable Cause to Search
“The officer observed a large knife as the stop developed, establishing probable cause to search the vehicle,” according to The Portland Police Department.
AK-47 Style Rifle, Ammo and Drugs Seized after Traffic Stop
Police searched the vehicle and seized an unloaded AK-47-style rifle, two 20-round boxes of ammunition and 21 other loose rounds of ammunition. Officers also found 14.7 grams of methamphetamine, .4 grams of crack cocaine and 2.3 grams of cocaine HCL.
Drug Trafficking and Possession Charges
Anderson faces charges for Aggravated Drug Trafficking and Unlawful Drug Possession of meth.
Additional Charge of Trafficking in Prison Contraband
He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and was additionally charged with Trafficking in Prison Contraband.
