Human Remains Found after Fire in Amity, Maine
Human remains were found Saturday afternoon after a structure fire at 44 Emily Drive in Amity.
One Dead after Fire in Aroostook County, Maine
The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office called the State Fire Marshal to investigate the fire.
Fire Seriously Damaged Building
The Houlton Fire Fire Department arrived on the scene around 2:30 pm to find the building heavily damaged.
Human Remains Found in Debris
“Investigators responded and subsequently located human remains amongst the fire debris,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Officials Looking for Identification
The remains were taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for positive identification.
Cause of Fire Investigation
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
