A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of Arson after two fires in Standish.

Man Arrested after Evaluation at Local Hospital

Timothy Nickels was taken into custody Wednesday morning following his release from a hospital where he was undergoing an evaluation.

Investigators Determined Both Fires Were Intentionally Set

The State Fire Marshal’s Office said both fires were intentionally set at a house and garage at River Meadows Drive on July 22 and July 23.

One House Fire and One Garage Fire in Two Days

“The first fire at Nickels’ residence was reported at approximately 9:30 pm, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, and was relatively small. A second fire was reported just before 5:00 am, the following morning, Thursday, July 23, 2026. The second fire destroyed the garage attached to the home,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Charged with Two Counts of Arson and Failure to Report a Fire

Nickels was transported to the Cumberland County Jail and charged with two counts of Arson and one count of Failure to Report a Fire.

Ongoing Fire Investigation

No injuries were reported at either fire. The investigation is ongoing.
