A house was engulfed in flames and a pet died Thursday afternoon after a fire in Isleboro.

Fire Crews Took 15 Minute Ferry Ride to Assist

Crews from Lincolnville Fire Department contacted the Isleboro Fire Department to provide mutual aid and took a ferry boat to the island.

House was in Flames

“After a 15 minute ride on the ferry and quite the haul up-island to the home, they found it in flames, heavy smoke throughout the surrounding woods, road, and coming out from all sides of the roof,” said Lincolnville FD.

Water from Swimming Pool Used

The Isleboro Fire Department was already on the scene. A hydrant was used until more firefighters got more water from a swimming pool.

Pet Died, People Safe, Garage Saved

“Everyone made it out of the home safely and we were able to save their garage but unfortunately the house was lost, and a pet along with it,” said the Lincolnville Fire Department.
