A 17-year-old man was found dead Sunday night after shots were fired at 77 Rideout Avenue in Lewiston.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit said Sahal Murdi from Lewiston was found dead in the road by law enforcement.

911 Call Reported Shots Fired

Police received a 911 call to report shots fired around 10:30 pm, said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Two Vehicles Fled the Scene

Witnesses told police a silver Mercedes and a black Dodge Challenger with a temporary Maine registration plate fled the scene.

Driver Cooperating with Police

“The driver of the Mercedes has been identified and is cooperating with the investigators,” said Moss.

Cause and Manner of Death under Investigation

Murdi’s body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
