The West District RCMP has arrested four people in connection with a shooting incident early Sunday on the road between Canterbury and Meductic, N.B.

Police and emergency crews responded to a report around 6:00 a.m. Sunday of a car that was shot at by individuals in two other vehicles while driving between Canterbury and Meductic, according to Sgt. Brendan Flewelling.

Police found the car in the ditch in Meductic with two people inside. One person was treated for minor injuries at the scene, Flewelling said. Police believe it was an isolated incident.

Members of the West District RCMP along with specialized policing services including the RCMP Forensic Identification Services and RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the search for suspects. Over the next 24 hours, police arrested four individuals in connection with the shooting, Sgt. Flewelling said.

Police say 46-year-old Larry Kennedy, of Jacksonville, N.B., appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Monday by way of tele-remand. Kennedy was charged with discharging a firearm with intent, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a firearm/ammunition in a vehicle.

Also appearing in Woodstock Provincial Court on Monday by way of tele-remand was 37-year-old Bradley Watson, of Elmwood, N.B.  Watson was charged with assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Both men were remanded into custody and are scheduled to return to court on Friday, January 28 at 10:30 a.m. for a bail hearing.

A 33-year-old woman and 37-year-old man were also arrested in connection with the investigation and were released pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is continuing.

It was the third time in the past couple of months that shots were fired at vehicles in western New Brunswswick.  There was a shooting incident in Perth-Andover on January 16th and another on the Trans Canada in Nackawic in November.
