State Trooper Injured after Car Crashed into Cruiser in Maine
A Maine State Trooper was injured after a vehicle crashed into a cruiser on I-95 in Sidney on Wednesday night.
Vehicle Crashed into Cruiser and Injured Trooper
Cpl. Garret Booth was taken to Maine General Medical Center in Augusta with an arm injury and later released.
Woman Fell Asleep Driving on I-95
The Maine State Police said 34-year-old Keishaunna Tavares from San Diego, California was driving a 2019 Kia Optima around 11 pm when she “fell asleep, causing her foot to press on the accelerator and her vehicle to speed up uncontrollably rear-ending Cpl. Booth’s cruiser at a high rate of speed.”
Police: Driver Failed to Maintain Control of Vehicle
Tavares was not injured. She was given a citation for failing to maintain control of her motor vehicle.
Vehicles Damaged and Towed
Both vehicles were damaged and towed from the scene.
Assisting Law Enforcement and First Responders
Assisting Central Field Troop and Troop I were the MDOT, Delta Ambulance, Sidney Fire/Rescue, and Ready Road Towing. The crash investigation is ongoing.
