Described by organizers as a mix of equestrian sports and skiing, the Bangor Skijor festivities marked the 3rd such event in the state, creating a triple-crown circuit.
The other two events were held earlier in the winter in Skowhegan and Thopsham.
Skijor Bangor was held up at the Bangor Raceway, behind the Cross Insurance Center. but a lack of snow during the wet winter months made things challenging the first year, and snow had to be shipped from the airport to the event site.

There were plans to bring the event back for a second year, but those have been put on hold, unfortunately.
Organizers say that a scheduling conflict this spring will prevent them from being able to put an event together for 2025.
According to the Skijor Bangor Facebook Page, they will instead shift their efforts into planning for the next year.
"Due to scheduling conflicts, Skijor Bangor will unfortunately not be running this year. We wish everyone at Topsham Fair Skijoring and Skijor Skowhegan safe and fast runs! We will return in 2026! Giddy up!"
Organizers say that fans of Skijor will still be able to attend both the Skowhegan and Thopsham events.
