
Man Charged with Murder and Assault after Shooting Death in Maine
A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with Murder and Assault in Skowhegan.
Man Arrested and Charged with Murder and Additional Charges
Edward Longley from Skowhegan was taken into custody by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-Central.
Murder Happened in February 2026
Longley was charged with shooting and killing 51-year-old Billyjack Curtis from Augusta on February 2, 2026. The incident happened on Flagg Street in Augusta.
Woman Also Shot and Injured and Elevated Aggravated Assault Charges
He also was charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault for shooting and injuring 40-year-old Sherry Gilley from Brunswick.

Male Victim Died from a Gunshot Wound and Death Ruled a Homicide
An autopsy confirmed that Curtis died from a gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Woman Treated at Hospital for Injuries and Released
Gilly was taken to MaineGeneral in Augusta and then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was released later and was recovering from her injuries.

Suspect Taken to County Jail and Held Without Bail
Longley was transported to the Somerset County Jail and was held without bail.
