Man Died after House Fire in Westfield, Maine
A man died Thursday after a house fire at 1197 Houlton Road in Westfield.
Man’s Body Found after Extensive Search by First Responders
The body of a deceased male was located inside the house after an extensive search through the afternoon and evening by the Mars Hill Fire Department and the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.

Family Told Firefighters a Person was Still Inside the House
“Family members at the scene indicated that a person was likely trapped inside the residence.” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Positive Identification and Cause of death Under investigation
The victim was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to make a positive identification and to determine the cause and manner of death.

Fire May Have Originated in the Barn Area
“Preliminary information from witnesses suggests the fire may have originated in the barn area, " said Moss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
