
66-Year-Old Man Charged with Murder after Shooting in Maine
A 66-year-old man was arrested Thursday and charged with Murder following a shooting in Clinton.
Man Charged with Murder Arrested by Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit
James Simonson from Clinton was taken into custody by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit around 3:30 pm.
Murder Charge after Victim Died from Injuries
He was charged with Murder in the shooting death of 68-year-old William “Bill” Parent on Main Street in June 2025.
Cause of Death was Gunshot Wounds and Manner of Death was Homicide
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did an autopsy and determined the cause of death to be from gunshot wounds and the manner of death was a homicide.

Additional Charge for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person
Simonson was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

Taken to County Jail and Booked and Held Without Bail
“Simonson was transported to the Kennebec County Jail where he is being held without bail,” according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.
