
Four People Displaced after Building Fire in Maine
A fire damaged the first floor of a building Wednesday night at 17 Collins Street in Caribou.
Everyone Escaped the Fire and Four Displaced
Everyone in the building was able to escape and make it out safely. Four people living in the building were displaced by the fire.
Fire Contained to the First Floor and Put Out after Several Hours
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor of the structure. The fire started around 11:15 pm and was extinguished by 1:15 am.
Cause of the Fire Under Investigation
Investigators believed the cause of the fire was a refrigerator. The fire remains under investigation.
Multiple Crews on the Scene to Assist
There were 17 first responders on the scene at the time of the fire. Assisting The Caribou Fire Department was mutual aid from the Presque Isle Fire Department, the Fort Fairfield Fire Department and the Limestone Fire Department.
Red Cross Assisting Building Occupants
The American Red Cross is providing help to the occupants of the building.
