Driver Injured in Propane Explosion and House Destroyed in Maine
A propane delivery driver was seriously injured and a home was destroyed by fire after a propane tank explosion in Grand Lake Stream.
Delivery Driver Injured and House Burnt Down
Police said a delivery driver for VL Tammaro was filling propane tanks outside of a residence on Milford Road around 10:30 am Thursday.
Malfunction Caused Explosion
“A malfunction in the filling process caused the release of gas and an explosion occurred when the propane was ignited by an unknown ignition source,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Driver had 2nd Degree Burns
The driver was seriously injured with 2nd degree burns. He was taken to the hospital and released after treatment.
Homeowner not Injured
The resident was home at the time of the explosion and was not injured.
Fire and Explosion Investigation
The Maine Fire Marshal's Office was investigating with the Maine Fuel Board.
