A 48-year-old man was arrested Sunday and charged with two felonies after a woman was injured in a hit and run crash in Bangor.

Man Fled & Arrested after Woman Injured in Hit and Run

The two-vehicle crash happened around 11:49 am Saturday morning on I-395 westbound near the Main Street overpass.

Vehicle Rolled over a Guardrail and Down an Embankment

“Witnesses reported a black Ford Mustang struck a Volkswagen coupe, causing the coupe to spin out, go off the roadway into the grass gore, cross the entering ramp from Main Street, roll over the guardrail and down the embankment into the woods,” according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Suspect's Car Hit Median and he Fled on Foot

The Mustang crashed into the median and the male driver was seen fleeing the scene on foot. Police searched for the suspect but did not locate him in the area.

Photo Submitted to Police Tip Line Helped Identify the Driver

A photo showing the suspect fleeing the scene was submitted to the Maine State Police 411-Tip Line. He was identified as David Harris from Brewer. The information also matched the vehicle registration.

Man Charged with Two Felonies and More

Harris was taken into custody Sunday around 7:40 am and charged with Leaving the Scene of Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury (Class C Felony), Aggravated Driving to Endanger (Class C Felony), Failure to Make Oral Accident Report and Operating without a License.

Taken to County Jail and Booked on the Charges

He was transported to Penobscot County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.

Woman Injured in Other Vehicle and Transported to the Hospital

The 20-year-old woman driving the Coupe had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
