A man was arrested Friday after almost hitting a firefighter in Union and a police chase in the Rockland area.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said the driver in a Ford F150 nearly hit a firefighter directing traffic in Union.
Driver Led Police on Foot Chase Before Driving Away
The driver exited the truck and led police on a foot chase before getting back in the Ford and fleeing toward Rockland.
Driver Called 911 from his Truck During Police Chase
The man called 911 from his vehicle during the pursuit while ignoring sirens and commands to pull over.

Negotiation on Phone to Deescalate the Situation
The call was connected to a 3-way phone negotiation to deescalate the situation and end the chase.
Stop Sticks Stopped the Truck and Ended the Chase
“Stop sticks” were effectively deployed near Chickawaukee Lake and the truck was stopped.

Driver Given a Mental and Physical Evaluation
The driver was arrested and transported to a local medical facility for a physical and mental evaluation.
No One Was Injured During the Pursuit
No injuries were reported. The name and age of the male driver was not released.
