51-Year-Old Man Charged with Shooting Dog in Maine

A 51-year-old man turned himself in to police Sunday and was charged with shooting a dog in North Yarmouth.

Troy A. Hall from Windham was charged by the Maine Warden Service with one count of shooting a domestic animal on Saturday.

Turned Himself In to Police

Wardens said Hall turned himself in to the Windham Police Department around 10:45 am Sunday and confessed to the shooting.

Hall was charged for a shooting that happened around 11 am Saturday on a marked trail in the Knights Pond Preserve.

Dog Shot on Trail

Wardens said three people were walking their dogs when one of the dogs was shot about 20 feet ahead of them.

Suspect Shot the Dog and Fled

“The owners of the dog had a brief encounter with the shooter, but he quickly fled the scene,” said Mark Latti, Communications Director, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.

$2,000 Reward was Offered

Maine Operation Game Thief had offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the shooting.
