A 19-year-old woman trapped in a car died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in Falmouth.
Woman Died at the Hospital after Crash
Joamaliz Orozco from East Hartford, Connecticut was extricated and taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she was pronounced dead.
Afternoon Crash Near Interstate On-Ramp
The crash happened on the Falmouth spur around 1:57 pm near the on-ramp to I-295 north.
Vehicle Left the Roadway and Crashed into a Guardrail
The Maine State Police said Orozco lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and collided with a guardrail.
Woman Trapped in Vehicle and Extricated
First responders with Falmouth Fire and Rescue found Orozco trapped in her 2013 Subaru Impreza. She was extricated and taken to the hospital.
Weather and Road Conditions Believed to be Factors in the Crash
“Weather and road conditions are thought to be the primary cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
