Two DOT workers died Tuesday morning and two people were seriously injured after a crash on I-95 in Waterville.

Two DOT Workers Died and Two Injured

Two Maine Department of Transportation workers were pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a minivan that knocked the men over the bridge and onto Kennedy Memorial Drive below.

Driver Failed to Stop at Posted Construction Zone

The Maine State Police said the minivan driver did not stop at a posted sign that was part of bridge construction.

DOT Workers Struck by Minivan and Knocked Off Bridge

The KIA minivan then tried to enter the other lane and was hit by a tractor-trailer. The minivan went into the work zone and struck three DOT workers.

Two Workers Identified and Third Worker Taken to Hospital with Injuries

The two workers have been identified as 60-year-old James Brown from Waterville and 51-year-old Dwayne Campbell from Waterville. The third worker was injured and taken to the hospital.

Minivan Driver Injured and Two Children With Her Not Injured

The driver of the minivan, 34-year-old Samantha Tupper from Augusta, was transported to an area hospital. Two young children were with her in the vehicle. They were not injured.

Tractor-Trailer Driver Not Injured

The tractor-trailer driver was not injured in the crash.

Traffic Delayed and Ongoing Investigation

Traffic was delayed in the area and the investigation is ongoing.

First Responders at the Scene

Assisting the Maine State Police was the Waterville Police Department, the Waterville Fire Department, Waterville Public Works and Delta Ambulance and Dostie’s Towing.
