
Woman Charged with Attempted Murder & Arson after Fire in Maine
A 41-year-old woman was arrested Monday night and charged with Attempted Murder and Arson after a fire was intentionally set at a residence in Knox.
Woman Charged with Attempted Murder and Arson
Jessica Allsop was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, Arson, and Violation of Conditions of Release.
Late Night Fire Intentionally Set
The fire happened at 1647 Bailey Road around 10:43 pm.
Residents Suppressed Fire Until Firefighters Arrived
The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was suppressed by other people in the residence, using a fire extinguisher and water, before the fire department arrived.
Suspicious Circumstances Involving Fire
The fire was contained to a bedroom. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was notified due to the suspicious circumstances, said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Fire Marshal Said Fire was Intentionally Set
The Fire Marshal determined the fire was set intentionally.

Female Suspect was Temporarily Staying at Residence
Allsop was staying at the residence temporarily. She was taken to the Waldo County Jail and booked.
Two Other Residents Treated for Smoke Inhalation
Two other residents were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Dogs Escaped Fire
Several dogs escaped the fire unharmed.
