In the early morning hours of August 15, The Caribou Police Department received a complaint from a local hotel that they had an individual in their lobby reporting that they had been beaten up.

Officer Kegan McPherson arrived to find a male victim had been forced into a car at knife point, beaten up and left at a local parking lot. Caribou Police say several items were stolen from the man.

After an investigation, James Sam, 34, of Caribou, Bobby Nightingale, 36, of Presque Isle and Morgann Towle, 19, of Fort Fairfield were all charged with Class A kidnapping and robbery, Class B aggravated assault and Class D theft.

James Sam’s theft charge is elevated to a Class C felony as he has multiple prior convictions. James Sam was also charged with violation of bail.

Morgann Towle’s vehicle was impounded where evidence of the crime was collected.

All three individuals failed to make bail and were transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. Court for all three will be October 5, 2017.
