Law enforcement in northern Maine took part in the 2019 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The runners traveled down Route 1 Wednesday & Thursday - and posted their pictures on Facebook.

(Above) The Fort Kent leg of the Torch Run was handled by Deputy Sheriffs Michael DeLena and Jesse Belanger.

In Presque Isle, many agencies joined forces, including Presque Isle PD, Arrostook County Sheriffs, Maine State Police, Maine Forest Service & Homeland Security.

(Below) The Caribou Police & Maine Game Wardens got together to carry the torch.

The Torch Run is an important fundraiser for the Special Olympics. It brought in $400,000 in 2018. This is the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics State Summer Games.

Runners from many areas of Maine are participating - the final destination is the University of Maine, Orono, Friday, June 7th. The torch will be featured in the parade & the opening ceremonies.
