Various law enforcement agencies across Aroostook County and Western New Brunswick are warning drivers to stay off the roads and to stay home as freezing rain continues in the area.

The Washburn Fire Department was called to a report of a motor vehicle accident on the Gardner Creek Road at around 3:30 p.m. Due to weather conditions, neither Crown Ambulance nor the Washburn Fire Department were able to reach the scene. A single patient was able to be transported from the scene to awaiting Emergency personnel. To make things worse, the Washburn Highway Department responded to assist with sanding the road to the scene and subsequently left the road as well.

A section of the Trans Canada Highway near Oromocto, New Brunswick was shut down due to slick conditions as well.

State Highway crews and town crews are out in full force doing their best to keep roads safe. Secondary roads are not clear. What ever you need to be on the roads for, ask yourself if it is worth your life. Stay safe, stay home!
