A 38-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with drug trafficking after drugs were seized during a search warrant in Portland.

Arrested on Four Counts of Aggravated Drug Trafficking

Abdikeyr Mohamud was taken into custody and charged with four counts of Aggravated Drug Trafficking Cocaine.

Months-Long Investigation Involved Drug Buys and Neighbor Information

The months-long investigation included drug sales at 38 Kensington Street and neighborhood information about suspected drug activity.

Suspect Stopped in Vehicle and Apprehended

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Cumberland District Task Force saw Mohamud leave the residence in a vehicle. He was stopped on Washington Avenue.

Prior Charges for Aggravated Drug Trafficking

Mohamud was arrested on three prior Aggravated Drug Trafficking charges and transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

Search Warrant Executed and Drugs Seized from Residence

A search warrant was executed at the residence and police seized 79 grams of Cocaine Base (Crack) and other drug trafficking items. Current street prices are $80-$120 per gram, said the MDEA.

Held on $25,000 Cash Bail with More Charges Expected

Mohamud was held on $25,000 cash bail. More charges are expected. The investigation is ongoing.

The lead investigators in the case are the MDEA, the United States Drug Enforcement  Agency and the Portland Police Department.
