New Brunswick French Fry Truck Catches Fire in Maine
A tractor-trailer carrying 20 tons of French fries caught fire Tuesday evening in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Waterville, Maine.
The driver said he pulled into the busy parking lot when he smelled smoke from the back of the rig.
Waterville Fire and Rescue Chief David LaFountain said overheated brakes were the suspected cause of the blaze.
The truck is operated by Midland Transport Ltd, based in Dieppe, New Brunswick.
The driver was en route to New Jersey with the load of fries from Prince Edward Island. There were no injuries reported.
