An 80-year-old Oakfield man remained in serious condition at a Bangor hospital Thursday after crashing his motorcycle in southern Aroostook County.

Paul Tarr was headed east on the River Road in Oakfield just before noon Wednesday when he lost control of his motorcycle, according to Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines.

The 2006 Honda went off the roadway, struck an embankment and went airborne, Haines said.

Mr. Tarr suffered unspecified injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.

He was taken first to Houlton Regional Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
