A 54-year-old man is in critical condition and two women were injured Monday after a crash on I-95 in Veazie.

Three People Injured after Crashes on I-95 in Maine

The Maine State Police said an 18-year-old woman from Bangor lost control of her Kia Sorento in snowy road conditions and crashed in the median around 7:02 pm.

Man Stopped to Help Woman who Crashed While Wife Called 911

The woman got out of her vehicle and was standing behind a guardrail when a man from Medford stopped to help her. He also was behind the guardrail as his wife called 911 from the vehicle.

19-Year-Old Woman Crashed into Man and Woman in the Median

The man and woman were then hit by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old woman from Old Town. Police said she also lost control in the snowy road conditions.

Man May Have Tried to Shield Woman from Crash

“The man may have attempted to shield the young driver at the time of the crash,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Man and Woman Thrown Down the Embankment

The man and woman were thrown down an embankment from the impact of the crash.

Man in Critical Condition and Two Women Injured

The 54-year-old man was critically injured and the 18-year-old woman had serious injuries. The 19-year-old woman had minor injuries. All three were taken to the hospital.

Speed is not Believed to be a Factor in the Crash

“Speed is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
