Missing Fort Kent Man Rescued after Plane Spots Truck in Maine
A 71-year-old man from Fort Kent was rescued Friday in the North Maine Woods after his wife reported him missing on Thursday.
Man Found after Reported Missing
The Maine Warden Service said McClaren “Mickey” McBreairty told his wife he was going fishing Thursday around noon. She called Wardens around 10:30 pm after he did not come home.
No Signs after First Search
Wardens confirmed McBreairty entered a gate at North Maine Woods, but did not find a sign of him at his usual fishing spot. The search continued until 3 am early Friday morning.
Aircraft Joined the Search
The Warden’s search resumed at 6am Friday with an Allagash Ranger, and a Maine Warden Service aircraft.
Truck was Stuck on Washed Out Road
Maine Warden Pilot Josh Tibbetts located McBreairty's tuck around 10:15 am. The truck was stuck on a washed road near a beaver flowage off Michaud Farm Road in Allagash.
Man Found in his Truck
Warden Kayle Hamilton drove to the scene and found McBreairty in his truck, “a little tired but in good spirits.” He was transported out of the woods and returned home.
