Two men were arrested and charged after a firearm robbery & assault in Portland.

Two Men Arrested and Charged

The Portland Police Department said 21-year-old Dominic Moncada-Sanchez from Portland and 38-year-old Jorge Ramirez from Hartford, Connecticut were taken into custody.

Two Men Identified in the Robbery and Assault

They were identified after a man was robbed and assaulted during the sale of a firearm on July 24.

Police Conducted Surveillance

The Portland Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) identified the suspects and conducted surveillance on the two men.

Suspect Pulled Over During Traffic Stop

One of the men was pulled over for a traffic stop on July 31 at the intersection of Mellen Street and Congress Street.

Man Arrested after Traffic Stop and Charged with Robbery

Moncada-Sanchez was apprehended and charged with robbery. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail. The firearm was recovered.

High-Risk Search Warrant Executed at Residence

A high-risk search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence later that evening by the Portland Police Department’s Special Reaction Team.

Suspect Arrested and Charged with Drug Possession

Ramirez was arrested and charged with Unlawful Drug Possession. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and booked.

Cash and Digital Scales Seized with Search Warrant

Police seized approximately $3,700 in cash, along with digital scales, cutting agents and packaging materials consistent with the distribution of illegal drugs, according to Portland PD.
