Man & Woman Arrested after Two Maine Troopers Assaulted
Two Maine State Troopers were injured and a man and woman were arrested after an altercation during a domestic violence call in Limerick on Saturday.
Man and Woman Injured Two Troopers during Arrest
Police arrested 41-year-old Justin Savage from Limerick and 26-year-old Shawna Morse at their residence on Long Street around 10:53 pm.
Neighbor Reported Domestic Violence
A neighbor called police to report Savage assaulting Morse in front of their home. Troopers detained Savage when they arrived on the scene.
Man and Woman Fight with Police
“Savage became combative and a struggle ensued. Savage landed on a Trooper, Sgt. Adam Schmidt, breaking his ankle. In an effort to escape custody Savage also bit Trooper Jamie Fenderson causing two lacerations on his hand. During that altercation, Morse attempted to assist Savage,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Trooper Needs Surgery after Altercation
Sgt. Schmidt was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was later released. He will need surgery, said Moss.
Man Faces Several Charges
Savage is facing charges of Domestic Violence Assault, Assault on a Police Officer, Refusing to Submit to Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct. He was taken to the York County Jail.
Women Charged
Morse is charged with Obstructing Government Administration and Refusal to Submit to Arrest. She was also transported to the York County Jail.
