Man Sentenced to 3.5 Years for Armed Bank Robbery in Maine
A 39-year-old man was sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for an armed bank robbery in Augusta.
Man Sentenced for Armed Bank Robbery
Joshua Brougham from Manchester was given 40 months in prison He pleaded guilty in April 2024.
Entered Bank in Disguise
Court records said Brougham entered a bank in Augusta wearing a brimmed hat and a hospital mask over his face in October 2022.
Pointed Gun at Teller and Demanded Money
Brougham pointed a handgun at the bank teller and demanded “all the money in the drawer,” said the Department of Justice. He then fled to a nearby parking lot and left in a gold-colored GMC Yukon.
Arrested Four Days Later
Four days later, Augusta Police apprehended Brougham as he left a local convenience store.
Gun and Brimmed Hat Found in Vehicle
In his vehicle, officers found a gun matching the description of the one used in the bank robbery. A brimmed hat was also in the vehicle.
Ordered to Pay Money Back
Brougham will also have three years of supervised release after his prison term. He was ordered to pay $1,120 in restitution.
