
Maine Man Sentenced for Physically Assaulting a Woman on a Cruise
A 46-year-old man was sentenced to 12 months in prison for assaulting a woman on a cruise ship.
Sentenced to One Year in Prison and Supervised Release to Follow
John Kelleher from Brewer was also given one year supervised release by U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann.
Pleaded Guilty to the Charges of Assault and Restitution
Kelleher will pay $360 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to the charges on January 6, 2026.
Assaulted Happened Onboard a Ship During an International Cruise
Kelleher and his then girlfriend were on an international cruise in December 2024 when the assault happened.
Man was On a Cruise But Was Not Permitted to Leave the State of Maine
He was on probation in Maine at the time and was not allowed to leave the state without permission.

Not Allowed to Drink Alcohol During Probation
Kelleher was also not allowed to consume alcohol as part of his probation.

Victim was Physically Assaulted, Bitten and Punched on a Cruise Ship
“On about December 19, 2024, while onboard the cruise ship, Kelleher physically assaulted the victim by biting her and punching her. While on the cruise, Kelleher had been drinking heavily,” accordion to the United States Attorney’s Office.
The Assault Case was Investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
The FBI Investigated the assault case and presented the evidence to the Department of Justice.
