LifeFlight Helicopter Called in to Aroostook County in the Wake of Flood
Parts of Aroostook County have essentially been cut off to the rest of world after rising flood waters spread throughout the area.
The town of Washburn has several roads that are closed indefinitely due to flooding, and the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque is taking action in the event of an emergency.
While Crown Ambulance does have a crew based in Washburn, officials with the hospital tell us that the only way emergency medical personnel could get a patient out of Washburn at this time, would be by boat, and they are just not comfortable with that.
That is why TAMC has called in a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to be on standby at the A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital on Academy Street in Presque Isle.
In the event of an emergency, the LifeFlight helicopter will be able to respond to the scene much more quickly and safely than crews using a boat.
