There will be a commemoration event at The Colisee on Birch Street on October 25, 2024, which will "honor those affected by the events at Schmengees Bar & Grille and Just In Time Recreation, as well as those who responded and continue to support the community," according to the event listing.
The event page also notes that the program will have music, performances, and remarks about the development of a permanent memorial, with attendees encouraged to bring items or messages for the Maine MILL Memorial Collection. These objects will be preserved, and some may be displayed in future exhibits or the memorial itself.
Doors for this event open at 4:30 p.m. with the program starting at 6 p.m.
As we remember those lost, it’s important to honor their lives, not defined by the horror they endured, but by the love and joy they brought to those who knew them.
In the face of unspeakable grief, the people of Lewiston and Maine have shown resilience, solidarity, and hope.
We stand with Lewiston — never forgetting the victims and always remembering the strength of this community.
Together, Lewiston remains strong.
