A 62-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday morning after being shocked by a power line while raking snow off a roof in Auburn.

The man was working for a contracted local roofing company and was raking snow at the Auburn Senior Community Center at 48 Pettengill Park Road.

Metal Rake Used to Remove Snow from Roof Touched Power Line

The Auburn Police Department said he was using an extension on a metal rake when he made contact with a power line on the roof.

Did Not Lose Consciousness and Received First Aid at the Scene

“The worker did not lose consciousness and was treated at the scene by Auburn Rescue,” according to Auburn PD.

Worker Transported to Local Hospital with Serious Injuries

He was taken to the hospital for medical attention with serious burns on his hands and legs.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration Called as Protocol

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was called as part of the protocol for workplace injuries.

Ongoing Investigation after OSHA Responded to the Incident

His name was not released. The investigation is ongoing.
