Ex-Husband Arrested for Assault and Police Standoff in Maine
A 70-year-old man was arrested after assaulting his ex-wife and a police standoff in Readfield.
Ex-Husband with Firearm Assaulted Ex-Wife
A 70-year-old woman called 911 around 6:02 pm and said her ex-husband, Carl Hiebert from Belgrade, had a firearm and assaulted her in her Morrill Road home.
Son Lived at the Home
The couple’s 41-year-old son was also at the home at the time and lives at the residence.
Woman was in Driveway when Troopers Arrived
When the Maine State Police arrived on the scene, the woman was in her driveway. She was removed from the location and treated by Winthrop Rescue.
Son Escaped Residence
Police said the son was able to get out of the home unharmed. A perimeter was set up around the house.
Crisis Negotiation Team
The Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team was called in and apprehended Hiebert.
Man Facing Domestic Violence Charges
He is charged with Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Conduct with a firearm and Domestic Violence Assault. Hiebert was transported to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.
