As towns throughout the County brace themselves for some pretty gusty south winds on Friday afternoon, Emera Maine is bracing themselves as well.

The National Weather Service is forecasting wind gusts that could reach up to 45 mph at times, with locally higher gusts possible across higher terrain.

Winds are expected to shift into the Northwest after midnight Friday and continue gusty at times into Saturday morning.

Therefore, Emera Maine is making preparations for a safe and timely response should power outages occur throughout the region.

Nate Cota, Storm Manager for Emera Maine said,

"This is the first significant wind event of the storm season and we expect it may have some impact on the electrical system."

According to a press release issued by Emera Maine, storm teams will be meeting regularly to review updated forecasts and ensure that resources are deployed as needed.

Additional line crews are scheduled to be on standby throughout the service territories on Friday and Saturday, as well as support for dispatching and customer service operations.

Always remember to stay away from downed lines and report any and all downed lines that you might encounter on roadways and property to local authorities and Emera Maine.

Never touch a downed power line, tree, or any other object that is connected to a downed power line and never drive over one.

Should you have a problem or see a problem, please contact Emera Maine at 1-855-EMERA-11 or 207-973-2000.
