Trooper Tim Saucier was called to the crash in the northbound lanes of the Interstate in Oakfield around 8:20 Tuesday evening.

State Police say Cody Kennedy of Presque Isle was traveling north in his 2003 Dodge truck when he fell asleep at the wheel. The truck left the highway and struck the guardrail, then rolled over into the median and ended up on its roof.

Sgt. Josh Haines said Kennedy was wearing his seat belt. Kennedy told police he had been stopped by a state trooper earlier in the day who made him buckle up.  He credited that action with saving his life in the crash.

Kennedy sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene by Houlton Ambulance, Haines said.
