
Man Convicted for Hitting 7-Year-Old Child in Crosswalk in Maine
A 25-year-old man has been convicted for driving to danger after a 7-year-old was hit in a crosswalk in Lewiston.
Charged with Hitting 7-Year-Old in Crosswalk in School Zone
Alberto Nafoia was charged with hitting the boy on Minot Avenue near Fairview School on October 1, 2024.
Also Issued a Traffic Citation
He was also issued a traffic ticket for operator failing to obey crossing guard.
Student was in Crosswalk with Crossing Guard Present
Police said the 7-year-old was in the crosswalk in a school zone with a crossing guard stopping traffic.
Child Hit in the Street
Nafoia did not stop and struck the child in the street. He was apprehended at the scene.
7-Year-Old Seriously Injured after Crash
The 7-year-old had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical attention. Officials said he has made a full recovery.
Day-Long Bench Trial and Decision
The court's decision to convict Nafoia came after a day-long bench trial in Androscoggin County, Maine.
Convicted Man to be Sentenced after Court Ruling
